The History
No story of Mimosa's origin has become certified true as of date, but like many great cocktails there are plausible sources known. One is that, before, a recipe for a drink that combined sparkling wine to orange juice had already existed, by the name of Buck's Fizz which was created in Buck's Club at London, 1921. Buck's Fizz had greater portions of Champagne than juice so mixologist Frank Meier made a recipe with equal parts sparkling wine and part orange juice at Ritz Hotel in Paris, 1925. Some say it was Sir Alfred Hitchcock who created this sparkling wine and orange juice cocktail in the 1940's by which he contributed to the drink being recognized in the US.
Mimosa has been gaining more and more patrons and it shows on how much its fame has steadily increased through the years. Zimbabwe, Italy, South Africa, Estonia, and Portugal have the most number of Mimosa drinkers, while in the US most of them are from District of Columbia, North Carolina, Louisiana, Kentucky and Tennessee.
