Rum and Coke is a rum-based mixed drink with cola, lime juice, and sometimes other fruit juices. It can be served either straight up or on the rocks. Often called Cuba Libre, the cocktail uses typical light rum rather than dark rum.
Rum and Coke is as old as the Spanish-American War. The origins of this Cuban drinking tradition can be traced back to 1900 and to a U.S Army Captain who was stationed there during that time period.
