Everything You Need To Know About White Wine Glasses
Unlike red wines that require a lot of surface area to release the aromatics and remove tannins and sulfites, white wines do not have that many nuances. White wines have a very delicate aroma and flavors and do not need a lot of specifications when it comes to glasses.

Any glass designed for the white wine is good enough to serve your white wine in. A crystal or regular wine glass works well, whether it is stemmed or stemless. However, since the white wine is best served cold (50-60 degrees Fahrenheit or 10-15 degrees Celsius), it is best to serve it in stemmed glasses to keep the hand from warming the wine.
Generally, white wine glasses have a narrower bowl compared to the red wine glass which has a wide bowl and wide brim. This shape gives more surface area to allow the red wine to breathe. White wines do not need to breathe unless they are very young.
White wine glasses are narrower with a reduced surface area. This design directs the delicate aromas to be directed to the nose, making it more pleasurable and keeps the wine cold for longer.
The correct shape of the white wine glass should be a more rounded bowl, with very little flaring on the middle of the bowl and a slight tapering towards the rim. The best way to describe it is its U-shape with a relatively smaller bowl than the red wine glass but slightly larger than the flute. The more common Sauvignon Blanc and other light to medium-bodied with fruity or floral aroma wines use this type of wine glass.
The importance of the thickness or rather the thinness of the wine glasses cannot be overemphasized. Wine glasses are fragile because they are supposed to be thin, especially on the rim. The bowl is a bit thicker to allow you to clink your wine glasses when making toasts but the rim should be thin.
The thin rim allows the wine to be sipped and directed to the tip and center of the tongue so you can taste it properly. The clearer makeup of the thin glass displays the overall appearance of the wine, enticing the mind to think that it is more flavorful than it actually is. It also accentuates the acidity and tanginess of the wine.
