I haven’t used this yet but I know I’ll enjoy it
Given as present, used for many preparations
Nice..not treated wood. Smooth. I liked it.
As good as the other reviews say, much better than the metal one on the end of my bar spoon.
Simple tool. Muddles well.
Does the job. Well worth it. Beautifully made.
Classic, and well made.
It does what it says it will do...it muddles drinks.
I like this muffler. I use it for packing in Amish butter into a French butter holder. It would be great for the head to be wider though.
**Update 6/1/21** I’ve used the muddler several times since receiving it. I would say mineral oil is the needed step. So far after making a drink, Just a quick rinse of the business-end and wipe with a bar towel. No signs of splitting. Still looks like the photo I attached. Great value if you’re willing to do a bit of prep before initial use.OP...This appears to be a solid, well made muddler. I replaced the muddler that came in a kit, which had a lacquer finish and felt cheap. I didn’t w…ant whatever finish it was chipping off into my cocktail. This new muddler feels good in hand, has a smooth even cut and texture. It is unfinished wood, so it would need to be treated with mineral oil as you would an end-grain butcher block, or any “naked” wood handle. I filled a shaker pint with food grade mineral oil and soaked the muddler for a couple/few hours then flipped it to soak the remaining exposed part overnight. (Part of the muddler stuck out, so finding a taller glass would’ve worked to get it all at once). You can see in my photo, this is right after removing from the oil and wiping the excess oil. I’ll let it acclimate through the day and wipe off anymore excess oil before it goes into the drawer or before I use it.I haven’t used it yet, but I’m confident this will solve the splitting issue other reviewers have faced. You can see in their photos, their muddler is pale and dry as a bone with the splits. It’s a fair expectation to not have to treat this product with oil once received, but I wouldn’t knock the quality for it. This just comes with experience. You can see mine took the oil well and turned a nice golden honey color. Once the oil and wood acclimates, it should be well sealed for endless cocktails without a hitch. (And oil going into your drink isn’t a concern given mineral oil’s hydrophobic nature, same as a butcher block or cutting board)
