I bought this as a wedding gift for my son and he absolutely loved it!!! The press comes packaged in a Iphone style box that makes for a great presentation. He's brought it over to the house several times now. You can make a sphere in less than a minute if you heat both halves of the press up under hot water in the sink! Really cool device that made for a great gift. Would definitely recommend! Can't wait to buy more as gifts...ie, birthday, wedding, Christmas, boss's day, etc...
Works great. You have to soak the metal in warm water first then it goes perfectly.
Great product that puts a little "show" on for your drink recipients. I paired this with one of the directional freeze ice sphere molds here (Berlinzo 2.4 inch) for crystal clear ice.
My brother is an avid bourbon drinker and I saw this press online when searching for gifts for his This isn't the cheapest press on the market but I went with it anyway after reading other reviews. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and craftsmanship. This was my brother's favorite wedding gift by far. This was such a unique gift and I plan on trying out their engraving service with a date and the couple's name for a wedding I'm attending in November!
Ordered on the 14th, arrived to Finland on the 19th and tested today for the first time. The silicon mould that comes with it handled making clear ice via boiling water well and the ice was easy to remove from the mould.I warmed the press itself up with warm water before using, it took around half a minute for it to turn the block into a sphere with very slim spots at the top and bottom where the water from.5/5 Absolutely hearty recommendations
If anyone is 2nd guessing buying this because of the price...DON'T! It's worth it and it makes SOLID ice balls that LAST!
5.0 out of 5 stars
High quality. Produces a lot of water though. Works fast!
Product looks and functions exactly as represented.
This is not a high end ice ball maker, you will have to spend $500 or more to get one. However, this gets the job done. The ice spheres do not come out perfectly round because there isn't a pressure release valve on the bottom, but it still makes a pretty good size ice sphere, it just has a little flat knob on the end (not a deal breaker for me).I've had to mess around with it to work properly. For example, the first few times I used this the press it would not go down all the way. I found …that running one of the ends under warm water before use makes the press go all the way down, and it's absolutely necessary to warm both parts of the press if you plan on making multiple ice spheres in succession. It's almost as if there isn't enough aluminum in the press to transfer enough cold from the ice block. If you look at more expensive ice sphere presses they are usually very large (this one is small). However, I still find this as a useful and fun addition to my bar, and outside of tinkering with it to find out the best way to use it, I like the small size for storage/display.Another con is price. Not sure why two tiny chunks of aluminum costs around $200, but it is what it is and I couldnt see myself spending way more money on a great quality ice sphere press unless it was for use in a restaurant. I use this all the time when I'm not drinking my bourbon neat. Cheers.
