The Glencairn Cut Crystal Whisky Tasting Glass

These fine, hand cut crystal tasting glasses have become my favorite gifts for sippin' whiskey drinkers. The shape concentrates the liquor to the tip of your tongue and makes good whiskey taste better, and last longer. The heavy lead crystal sparkles brilliantly. Just be sure to hand wash them carefully - too much pressure with a brush on the inside can cause one to break. I only did it once.

Got these for those special times with the son. We'll break out a bottle of the some really Good stuff and enjoy it in these glasses....

This was a gift and the recipient loved it. Perfect for bourbon/whiskey. It was smaller than I thought but was advised it is the right size after all. Glencairn made well.

Gave this as a gift and it’s awesome. Good weight to it, nice feel in your hand. Don’t know if it’s a real Glencairn and don’t care.

Not sure if this is an authentic Glenncairn but the packaging is very nice (has a slight rubbery feel to it) and the quality of the crystal? seems very good. I tried to do the crystal test by getting it to "sing" by rubbing the rim but the glass is too small and thick to tell. Someone complained of air bubbles, so I examined mine closely - only saw 1 very very tiny bubble (fraction of a millimeter and you almost need a magnifying glass to see it). Glenncairns are supposed to be hand-blown, s…o minor imperfections are natural. The rim is not rounded, nor cut straight off - somewhere in between. It is not sharp, which is great. As with cut crystal, it has to be thick which gives a nice heavy feel. I got the larger size (not the wee size) - glad I did because even the regular size is pretty small. I noticed that the cut crystal ones are not lead free like the plain ones are but the contents don't sit long enough in there for any lead to leech into the Scottish nectar.

These glencairn glasses looks great and really do enhance the aroma of your whiskeys. I use them now when drinking scotch neat instead of using a whiskey glass. The cut design is really nice and they feel substantial in your hands. Makes a great gift too.

Bought one for myself - love it. Really improves aromas. Bought this one for my adult daughter for her birthday. She really appreciated it.
