Love this book! Combines geography, history, and oenology. It also sprinkles in some geology, botany, and chemistry. So much good stuff in here it's hard to put down. Thank you, authors Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. A book worth well beyond its price!

The book is not only informative but it's richly illustrated. It can be overwhelming for beginners, but if you've been bitten by the wine bug this is a mandatory book to know your wine because the wine is extremely linked to the place it was "born and raised". It even helps with your tasting when you know things like subregions, altitude, climate and soil.

One of the best hardcover books on Wine I’ve come across in years. Even my 80 year old father spent an hour perusing it. It’s got great information, great pictures, and tons of helpful information. Well worth it!

If you like wine like I do, this is THE reference to buy. Besides the fantastic information, the photos and maps are just first class. The price ? Incredible that they can sell such a fabulous book for such a small cauldron of lucre. This is a must buy for wineos.
